Abortion Clinic Johannesburg
What Do We Offer?
We offer abortion services to women of all ages and situations. We believe in the right to choose, and we’re here to help you decide what’s best for you. We offer two main types of abortions: surgical and medical. If a woman is more than 10 weeks pregnant, then they will usually opt for the surgical method because it is safer and easier than the medical procedure which requires herbs that must be taken orally.
If you are less than 10 weeks pregnant, then your options are limited as medical abortion pills can only be used up until seven weeks gestation due to safety reasons. But don’t worry; our doctors will guide you through every step of your treatment so that everything goes smoothly!
In addition to this service offering for women who wish to terminate their pregnancies at 12 weeks or earlier, we also provide aftercare treatment by our staff nurses in order
soothe any discomfort felt during recovery from surgery/medication use.”

Abortion services
Abortion is the termination of pregnancy. It can either be natural or induced, and it is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the world. Medical abortion is carried out by taking two medications, mifepristone and misoprostol, which cause a miscarriage. The pregnancy can be terminated up to 9 weeks after conception with this method. Abortions are also done surgically through a procedure called dilation and curettage (D&C), which involves making an incision into the uterus to remove its contents.
In South Africa there are abortion pills available at private clinics as well as hospitals; however, these cannot be prescribed without first seeing a doctor for consultation purposes only because they require proper guidance on how to use them correctly without harming yourself or your baby.
Termination of pregnancy with Abortion Pills
Medical abortion pills are a safe and effective way of ending an unwanted pregnancy. The procedure involves taking the first tablet, followed by two more on consecutive days.
How do medical abortion pills work?
The first tablet contains mifepristone, which blocks the effects of progesterone that is necessary to maintain a pregnancy. On day 2 you will take another tablet called misoprostol which causes your uterus to contract and expel its contents (the embryo and lining of your womb). This takes place within 24 hours from when you took this second tablet, so if you have any concerns after taking it please call us immediately at 0608366772 for further advice or come into our Johannesburg clinics where we can perform an ultrasound scan in order to determine the status of your pregnancy.
Aftercare Treatment
After the abortion procedure, it is important to see your doctor for an aftercare check-up. You may experience some bleeding, cramping and spotting for up to 12 weeks after an abortion. If you experience heavy bleeding or excessive pain that goes away with painkillers, you need to get medical attention immediately.
The risks associated with having an abortion depend on how far into the pregnancy you are when taking the pill. If you are at least 9 weeks pregnant or more when taking Mifepristone (the abortion pill), there will be no risks of an ectopic pregnancy or infection because there would not be any viable tissue left in the uterus by then anyway. However, if there is still viable tissue present during this time then these complications can occur even though they are rare occurrences (1 in 100 cases).
