Research collected from 2008 through 2010 shows the most frequently cited answers. Women provide as reasons for abortion (and the percentage of women who provided them) are the following. Note that women were able to give multiple reasons in this survey:
- Not financially prepared: 40 per cent
- Bad timing, not ready, or unplanned: 36 per cent
- Partner-related reasons (including the relationship being bad or new, she doesn’t want to be a single mother, her partner is not supportive, does not want the baby, is abusive, or is the wrong guy): 31 per cent
Need to focus on her other children: 29 per cent
